Building a Vocational College in
Kinshasa
Laying the Foundations for Opportunity
The Democratic Republic of Congo possesses one of the youngest populations in the world. Every year, millions of talented young people leave school without access to further education, vocational training or meaningful employment. Despite their ambition, determination and entrepreneurial spirit, many lack the opportunities, practical skills and support needed to build successful futures.
Our vision is to establish a modern Vocational College in Kinshasa that equips young people with internationally relevant vocational, technical and entrepreneurial skills. The college will prepare students not only for employment but also to become business owners, employers and future leaders within their communities. We envisage training 2,000 to 3,500 students each year focussed on construction agriculture and community development.
Funding the College
The funding of the college is estimated at $3m which will cover the building equipping and operations for three years. This will provide real training and employment opportunities for the students.
Before construction can begin, a detailed planning and partnership mission is required. This fundraising campaign seeks to finance Phase One—a four-week mission to Kinshasa to establish the legal, technical and strategic foundations of the project.
By supporting this mission, donors will help transform an ambitious vision into a practical and deliverable programme capable of changing thousands of lives.
We envisage 3 phases:
• Phase 1 – Research and Project Development in Kinshasa
• Phase 2 – Planning and Building the College
• Phase 3 – Building the Houses for Local People.
A successful pilot in Kinshasa will lead to other colleges in the suburbs of the city and further deployments in the 28 provincial capitals.
The scaling of the project will have a highly positive impact on the prospects for the young people of DRC.
From the college, we will then mobilise young people to build say 500 houses at an average sales price of $50,000 (from a range of $30,000 - $70,000) will generate $25m. We anticipate a cost to build of $15m, generating a profit for the college and its investment partners of $10m, which will pay for their training, while the surplus can be allocated to sustainability and the development of further colleges.
Our Vision
Our goal is to establish a self-sustaining Vocational College that becomes a centre of excellence for
technical education, entrepreneurship and community development.
The college will provide practical training in construction, engineering, renewable energy, agriculture,
manufacturing, business, digital technology and STEAM subjects, while also promoting innovation,
enterprise and leadership.
Rather than creating dependency, the college will empower young people with the knowledge, confidence
and practical skills required to build successful careers and businesses that contribute to the economic
development of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Kinshasa is home to millions of young people with enormous potential.
Many possess determination, creativity and a strong work ethic, yet opportunities remain limited by a lack
of vocational education, practical training and access to employment.
Without intervention, many will continue to face unemployment and poverty despite their capabilities.

By creating a vocational education centre linked directly to industry, agriculture and entrepreneurship, we
aim to equip young people with practical skills that create employment, generate income and strengthen
local communities.

During our first visit (30 days) to Kinshasa we will:

• Inspect land already identified in Menkoa and Nsele.
• Conduct technical and legal due diligence.
• Assess suitability for long-term development.
• Agree acquisition and development strategy.
Establish Professional Partnerships
Meet with:
• Architects
• Construction companies
• Engineers
• Renewable energy specialists
• Water providers
• Surveyors
• Legal advisers
• Government departments
• Registration authorities
These partnerships will establish the technical and legal framework for construction.
Develop Educational Partnerships
Meet universities, colleges and vocational institutions to develop partnerships covering:
• Curriculum development
• Teacher training
• Accreditation
• Student exchanges

Community Engagement
We believe lasting development begins with local participation.
During Phase One we will establish a community sports programme that will:
• Engage local young people.
• Build trust within the community.
• Identify potential trainees.
• Introduce construction and vocational career pathways.
The sports programme will become the first recruitment platform for future students.
