The
Future is LIT

IN THE BEGINNING.

On a rainy afternoon in Londona mother walked by with her little boy. She spoke Lingala, a little French, and tiny pocket of English.

She had questions about school and the GP, about work, and—quietly—about belonging. I called her in. We made tea. I listened.

I helped her find the right forms and the right words. By the time they left, the rain had eased, and so had the weight on her shoulders.

After several conversations with various individuals, the story was similar. The community needed someone that supports their needs.

I met her by chance that day.

Now... imagine if that young mother knew exactly where to go to receive the support she needed. If she'd known a group that would say;

“Let’s give you training. The tools. The knowledge. And the confidence to navigate a new country and minimise the language barrier.”

That place...
Is LIT Base.

That’s how Learning Innovation & Technology Base (LIT Base) began to take shape—not as a grand plan, but as a steady practice of welcome, one person at a time. Today, we are a Community Interest Company serving BAME communities in the UK, with a special, heartfelt focus on the Congolese diaspora.

We help people bridge language and digital gaps, build skills, and step into new opportunities. We do it in English, Lingala and French, with compassion.

Our Mission

To remove barriers and open doors for BAME—especially Congolese—children, young people, adults and elders through practical learning, digital inclusion, employability, health navigation and advocacy.

Our Vision

Vibrant, confident communities where culture is celebrated, opportunities are accessible, and everyone can progress in education, work and wellbeing.

What guides
Us?

What makes us
Different?

We are led by the community we serve. Our beneficiaries help shape our programmes; their lived experience is our compass.

We hold to a few simple promises:

·         Dignity first. Every person is welcomed as a neighbour, never a number.

·         Culture matters. Being bilingual isn’t a bonus here—it’s a baseline. English, Lingala and French sit side by side.

·         Whole-family support. Learning, jobs, health and advocacy under one roof, so progress doesn’t fall through the cracks.

·         Partnerships over pride. We work with colleges, employers, the NHS, councils and specialist charities to open doors faster.

"We start with the person."

We are trauma-informed, culturally competent and practical. We don’t just signpost; we walk with people until they can walk confidently on their own.

Where others see “hard-to-reach,” we see communities full of talent, enterprise and love—sometimes just waiting for the right bridge.

SAFEGUARDING &
QUALITY

Get
Involved!

We operate robust Safeguarding, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Data Protection (GDPR) and Health & Safety policies.

  • Volunteer: Become a community champion, mentor or facilitator.

  • Partner with us: Employers, colleges, NHS, local authorities and charities—let’s create pathways together.

  • Support our work: Fund a class, sponsor devices or back our community projects.

Our Values

There's more..

Here's the magic:

We don’t just stop at the London hub...

We work across the UK and Africa—helping communities rise from hardship through humanitarian projects: building solutions, feeding families, teaching the unspoken, reaching the unreached.

Because we believe a better world isn’t just possible—it’s already inside you.

So if you’ve ever felt like you're meant for more...
If you've ever thought, “If only I had the chance…”
Then look around you now.

This is your chance.

LIT Base is not just an organisation. It’s a movement.
And you, my friend, are the fire it needs to keep burning.

Let’s light up the future—together.

Because the future is LIT.
