ACCESS TO EDUCATION: Overcoming Barriers in Low-income Communities and breaking the cycle of Poverty

Writer: Wendy Samuel-Columbus Wendy Samuel-Columbus

Quality education is the bedrock for personal and societal development and breaks the backbone of ignorance, while ignorance is the disease that gradually consumes its host until there is nothing left of it. The world is fast evolving technology has taken over and knowledge is rapidly growing. However, it might shock you to know that there are many low-income communities, where accessing quality education remains a significant challenge. This barrier not only hinders individual potential but also perpetuates the cycle of poverty that goes from generation to generation, making it even more difficult to break the cycle. The earlier we address these barriers, the more crucial it is for fostering equity and equal opportunity for all. Some of the barriers to quality education in low-income communities include:

Geographic Barriers: Oftentimes, schools are usually built in towns located miles away from these rural communities. This then becomes a significant hurdle for families with limited resources that can’t afford to transport their wards to school.

Financial Constraints: The cost associated with quality education is the most common barrier for many low-income communities. Families struggle to afford school fees, uniforms, textbooks, and other essential supplies.

Proper Infrastructure: In low-income communities, educational facilities are usually impoverished. Schools are sited in uncompleted buildings, the classrooms are overcrowded, outdated materials are used, and insufficient basic amenities like clean water and electricity. These conditions affect the quality of education.

These and many more factors contribute to the barrier to quality education in low-income communities. However, let’s take a leap into how LIT Base Global comes in to curb the situation and become a bridge by which access to quality education can reach low-income areas allowing them to evolve and break the cycle of poverty in the community.

We are not limited to the kids, as there is vocational training available for those who feel they have outgrown the classroom stage and would want to be equipped with skills for survival in today’s world.

At LIT Base Global, we believe there is hope for all. We have vocational trainers who are well equipped and available to impact them with skills. LIT Base Global is committed to ensuring that these low-income communities have the facilities they need for quality education and vocational training, we want these communities to have equal opportunities like the elite and be able to choose their future and most importantly like it is our tradition to break the cycle of poverty and create rooms for these communities to thrive.

Let’s join hands together and give these children their fundamental human right which is quality education to secure their future. Send in your donations to the link below.
